Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (Cinema) [Unfiltered]
Thursday@5, Is Back, and It’s Time for My F*cked-up Film Festival! #4 of 6
We’re continuing my short series of Thursday@5 essays celebrating my Fucked-Up Film Festival, a six-pack of cinema you should definitely see. Or not.
Watch at your own risk. And enjoy.
I usually don’t do trigger warnings. But if you have had someone impacted by a kidnapping, please skip this one. This is a fucked-up movie, after all.
F.U.F.F. Film #4: Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
This film is considered Part 2 of Park Chan-wook's classic Vengeance Trilogy… (Don’t look that up. You’ll spoil the rest of the Trilogy unveil, and you wouldn’t want to do that, would you?)
I have a confession. Many consider this film to be the first in the trilogy. After all, it was made before Oldboy. But Oldboy is kind of a standalone compared to the other two installments in the Trilogy, so we’re calling this film #2, and I’m not the only one to do so. But I can’t say more about how it relates to #3, because we don’t want spoilers, right?
Once again, I’m not saying anything about the film. If you want to, the trailer is above, and there are links you can research, below. I like sending you blindly into this fucked-up wilderness, and even the official trailer has some spoilers!
Again, I usually don’t do trigger warnings. But if you have had someone impacted by a kidnapping, please skip this one. This is a fucked-up movie, after all.
Enjoy!
