So the Emmy Awards were on television last night, and for the first time ever, I present my own recap of the telecast!
First of all, it was so nice to see a crowd at the venue this year, the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. With the energy of the attending public, things started happening fast!
The first award happened a mere 50 seconds into the show, as Mathieu returned an interception 34 yards for a Kansas City touchdown. Kansas City 7, Baltimore Ravens 0.
The Ravens were not to be outdone, scoring their own touchdown only 3 1/2 minutes later, on a run and fumble recovery. Kansas City 7, Baltimore Ravens 7.
During my nachos and hot dogs break, a bunch of other awards were awarded, speeches made, touchdown celebrations danced, until at the end of the third quarter the score was Kansas City 35, Baltimore Ravens 24.
I don’t know who won the final award, because as you know, these awards shows drag on and on, and who can put up with that?
Just kidding. Baltimore won, 36-35, with the help of a last-minute Kansas City fumble.
The in-show entertainment was as expected, with halftime both informative and entertaining, although there were a couple of acceptance speeches that ran rather long.
Overall, the hosting duties were enjoyable and upbeat, as expected, by the dependable hosting duo of Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth. They didn’t sing or dance this year.
Oh, I almost forgot my comments about the red carpet! Kansas City wore their bespoke white tops over red pants, while the Baltimore Ravens were resplendent in their signature purple jerseys over white pants.
Can’t wait till next year!
